UPDATE: Aircraft is being removed from crash site

The twin engine Cessna aircraft that crashed in to a wooded area just off of 1431 East of I 35 was loaded onto a flat bed trailer this morning. The early afternoon crash on Wednesday took the life of the pilot who’s name has not been released. A father and son who witnessed the incident stated the aircraft just suddenly took a nose dive and crashed and into the wooded area.

The Round Rock Police posted this message on their Facebook page this morning. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the pilot and family from yesterday’s small-engine plane crash. We also want to thank all of the callers yesterday from that incident. You did an amazing job giving our dispatchers spot-on locations and details regarding what happened. That information helped us get the right resources to the scene and improved the overall emergency response to the scene. Thank you.”

A report on the incident will be released once the investigation is complete. The report is expected to be released in about a week.

The area was secured by DPS overnight.
