A person of interest in an arson fire at a Round Rock home has been identified and is being questioned according to Round Rock Fire Department.
The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. by a neighbor at the single-story home on the 1600 block of White Oak Loop in Round Rock.
A woman, who was alone in the resident when the fire broke out, was not injured. Most of the fire damage was contained to the back of the house but a significant amount of smoke damaged was reported. The fire appeared to have started in two location at the home.
The Round Rock Police and their crime scene units which are assisting the Fire Department in the investigation left the scene around 9 a.m.
UPDATE: 8:00pm May 6, 2019 –The fire investigation revealed the fire started on the exterior of the house and progressed into the home. The cause of the fire is determined to be arson, and damage is estimated at $80,000.
Near the scene, Round Rock police arrested Patrick Paul Dupre, 37, for public intoxication. He is a person of interest, and the investigation is continuing.
